"A still flame doesn't rage or roar. It glows steadily, quietly — and it never goes out."

Our Story

The mission behind Still Flame Sanctuary & Dennie's Warrior Wings

The Still Flame

The Still Flame Sanctuary was born from a simple truth: survivors don't need to be saved — they need to be seen.

Based in Kingman, Kansas, we are an online resource hub dedicated to shedding light on domestic violence, coercive control, and human trafficking. We believe that awareness is the first step toward change, and that every person who finds their way here deserves to feel safe, supported, and empowered.

The name "Still Flame" represents the quiet, unshakeable strength that lives inside every survivor. It's not loud. It's not flashy. But it never, ever goes out.

Dennie's Warrior Wings

Dennie's Warrior Wings is our outreach arm — named in honor of the warriors who fight battles no one sees. Every survivor carries wings, even when they can't feel them.

Through Warrior Wings, we create and distribute Warrior Packs — care packages filled with essential items, affirmation cards, meditation guides, and journal prompts. These packs are designed to remind survivors that they are seen, they matter, and they are never alone.

What Is Coercive Control?

Coercive control is a pattern of behavior that seeks to take away a person's liberty, autonomy, and sense of self. It includes:

  • Isolation — cutting someone off from friends, family, and support systems
  • Monitoring — tracking movements, communications, and daily activities
  • Financial control — restricting access to money, employment, or resources
  • Intimidation — using threats, anger, or unpredictability to create fear
  • Gaslighting — making someone question their own reality and sanity
  • Degradation — eroding self-worth through constant criticism and humiliation

Coercive control is abuse. It doesn't always leave visible marks, but its damage runs deep. If any of this sounds familiar, our resources page can help.

Our Vision

We envision a world where:

  • Every survivor knows they are not alone
  • Resources are easy to find and free to access
  • Communities stand together against abuse in all its forms
  • The still flame inside every person is honored and protected

Meditation Prompts

Safe Place Visualization

Close your eyes. Imagine a place where you feel completely safe and at peace. It could be real or imagined — a warm room, a quiet forest, a beach at sunrise. Notice the colors, the sounds, the temperature. Stay there as long as you need. This place is always yours.

Body Scan

Starting from the top of your head, slowly bring your attention down through your body. Your forehead... your jaw... your shoulders... let each area soften. Your chest... your stomach... your hands... your legs... your feet. Wherever you find tension, breathe into it gently and let it release.

Candle Flame Meditation

Imagine a small, still flame — like a candle in a quiet room. Watch it glow. It doesn't flicker or waver. It simply burns, steadily and peacefully. You are that flame. Quiet strength. Unwavering light. Let everything else fall away, and just be still.
